Why Does Drive lah Charge Inconvenience and Service Fees?

Drive lah charges certain service and inconvenience fees in specific situations to ensure a fair and reliable experience for all members. These fees help discourage misuse, compensate affected members, and cover the administrative costs of resolving issues.

Purpose of These Fees

Drive lahโ€™s platform relies on mutual trust and responsible behavior from both guests and hosts. When a member fails to meet their responsibilities โ€” for example, by canceling last-minute, returning a vehicle late, or not following community rules โ€” it may impact others.

In such cases, fees are applied to:

  • Discourage repeat violations

  • Compensate the affected party (host or guest)

  • Cover the cost of resolving the issue (e.g., coordination, customer support, documentation)

Examples of When Fees May Apply

  • Service and inconvenience fees may be charged in situations such as:

  • Late returns without prior communication

  • Last-minute trip cancellations outside the allowed window

  • Returning the vehicle in poor condition (unclean, low fuel, damage)

  • No-shows by guests or hosts

  • Failure to complete pre-trip or post-trip check-in steps

Note: Fees are only applied when terms of service are not met and will be clearly shown in your trip summary or in communication from our support team.

Transparency and Fairness

  • All potential fees are listed in our Fee Policy Guide (link to detailed fee table or policy)

  • Guests and hosts are notified when a fee is issued, with a clear explanation

  • Appeals can be submitted if you believe a fee was applied in error

How to Avoid These Fees

  • Always arrive on time for pick-up and return

  • Communicate with your guest or host if plans change

  • Ensure the vehicle is returned in the same condition you received it

  • Follow all trip steps in the Drive lah app
