Vehicle Reclassification from P to R

As of January 2025, new LTA regulations limit P-type (Private - P10/P11) vehicles on Drive lah to weekend and public holiday bookings only.

To unlock weekday bookings, your vehicle must be reclassified as Rental (R-type).

What Are P-Type Listings?

Vehicle class: P10 or P11

Intended for private use, not for rental

Only eligible for bookings on weekends and public holidays

You can still block your calendar on any day via your listing calendar.

How to check your vehicle class:

Go to your listing on Drive lah

Click Edit

Scroll to the About section

Look for the field labeled Vehicle Class Code

Why Convert to R-Type (Rental)?

Stay compliant with LTA rental regulations

Utilize weekday rentals and grow your income

Note: Hosts with P-type vehicles cannot open weekday dates unless they convert to R-type.

How to Convert Your Vehicle to R-Type

To allow weekday bookings, reclassify your vehicle through the OneMotoring LTA portal

Steps to Convert:

Visit: OneMotoring LTA website via https://onemotoring.lta.gov.sg/

Click Digital Services → View All

Search for "Convert Vehicle Type"

Select "Convert Vehicle Type" from the results

Log in using your Singpass

Choose "To R – Private Hire" as the new classification

Select your vehicle and submit the request

Processing Time:

Reclassification is completed as soon as you have settled the payment for the conversion.

After Conversion:

Reach out to Drive lah via support@drivelah.sg to update your vehicle type

If Your Car Is Financed

Before reclassifying your vehicle type, check with your loan provider:

What to Ask:

Does your lender allow reclassification to R-type?

Are there any fees or loan term changes involved?

Common Scenarios:

Most lenders permit reclassification

Some may require an admin fee or loan document update

Important: If your contract doesn’t prohibit vehicle-type changes, your lender cannot block the reclassification.

Insurance & Rental Usage

Will My Personal Insurance Be Affected?

No, as long as you remain the named driver

Drive lah provides trip-specific insurance for all bookings

Your no-claims discount and personal coverage remain unaffected

At Insurance Renewal:

Insurers assess driver profile, car age, and claim history

Most do not ask about vehicle classification

Because Drive lah handles claims, personal policies are generally not impacted

We also partner with insurers who support rental usage:

Tokio Marine

NTUC Income

Can I convert to Z-Type?

Yes, but:

Do not enable PHV feature unless you have commercial insurance

Drive lah does not cover PHV trips

Do I Need Z10 Insurance without Using PHV?

Yes. All vehicles require basic insurance by law, even if PHV is not activated.

Drive lah insurance only applies during Drive lah bookings.

Road Tax & Resale Value

Will Road Tax Change?

No. Road tax depends on:

Engine capacity

Vehicle age

Fuel type

Classification (P, R, or Z) does not affect road tax amount.

Does Reclassification Affect Resale?

No. Vehicle resale value is based on:

Age and condition

Market demand

You can revert to P-type later if you stop renting. Reclassification does not reduce resale value.

Do I Need a PHV Sticker?

- No sticker is required for R10 or R11 vehicles

- A PHV sticker is required for Z10/Z11 only if PHV is enabled
