Roadside assistance and trip disruptions policy

This article explains how roadside assistance works for car breakdown during a booking, including what support may be available, who is responsible for arranging it, and how costs are handled.

Written by Lai

Roadside assistance for car breakdowns may be arranged during a booking where required and is available on a chargeable basis. The Host remains responsible for organizing support, and Drive lah is here to help coordinate with trusted third-party providers on a best-effort basis, where available. Availability, response times, and the scope of assistance may vary depending on location and provider coverage.

Scope of assistance

Roadside assistance, where available and arranged, may include the following services:

  • Fuel delivery (limited to reaching the nearest petrol station)

  • Battery jumpstart or replacement

  • Flat tyre assistance (spare fitment or temporary repair)

  • Locked keys retrieval

  • Towing (distance and coverage vary)

Drive lah does not guarantee availability, timelines, or outcomes of any third-party service.

Fees & responsibility

All roadside assistance is chargeable and payable directly to the service provider by the Host or Guest. Guests are responsible for all costs where the issue arises from use, misuse, or circumstances within their control, including but not limited to the following:

  • Running out of fuel or using the incorrect fuel type

  • Locking keys inside the car

  • Flat tyres, battery issues, or similar incidents occurring during the booking period

  • Failure to operate or secure the car appropriately

Responsibility will be determined based on the circumstances of the incident. Where the cause cannot be clearly attributed to a car fault or pre-existing issue, the Guest may be held responsible for associated costs. Where the issue is not attributable to the Guest, the Host will cover all associated costs arising from the incident such as:

  • Mechanical or electrical faults

  • Replacement parts or additional services

Host bears full cost where breakdown is linked to poor maintenance or known and pre-existing issues.

Highlights:

  • Drive lah acts solely as a coordinator and is not a service provider for roadside assistance.

  • All services are delivered by independent third-party contractors.

  • To the extent permitted under applicable Singapore Consumer Law, Drive lah excludes liability for delays, service quality, availability, or outcomes of roadside assistance.

  • Responsibility is determined based on the cause of the issue.

Response expectations

Providers typically aim to attend within 60 minutes, however this is not guaranteed and may vary based on demand, traffic, and location.

Host liability for guest reimbursements

Where an incident is determined to be the Host's responsibility (including but not limited to mechanical failure, poor maintenance, or pre-existing car issues), the Host is liable for all reasonable costs arising from the incident. If Drive lah pays or reimburses the guest to minimize disruption during the booking, Drive lah reserves the right to recover those costs from the Host, including by deduction from the Host's payout where applicable. Recoverable costs may include, but are not limited to the ff:

  • Grab, taxi, or other transportation expenses

  • Accommodation (where reasonably required)

  • Roadside assistance (including towing, battery, tyre, locksmith, fuel delivery, and recovery services)

  • Workshop towing, storage, and car recovery costs

  • Other reasonable incident-related expenses incurred as a result of the Host's liability. Drive lah will determine liability based on the circumstances of the incident and supporting evidence. Only reasonable and necessary expenses will be recoverable.

  • Where the car becomes unavailable due to an issue not caused by the guest, the guest will be refunded for the affected unused booking period and reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred due to the disruption, including but not limited to transportation, towing, roadside assistance, or other necessary costs. Any corresponding Host payout or amounts paid by Drive lah may be adjusted or recovered from the Host, including through deduction from the Host payout or charging the Host’s payment method on file where applicable.

Guest liability for Host reimbursements

Where an incident is determined to be the guest's responsibility (including but not limited to misuse of the vehicle, negligence, or failure to use the car appropriately), the guest is liable for all reasonable costs arising from the incident. If Drive lah pays or reimburses the Host or any third party for costs arising from the guest's liability, Drive lah reserves the right to recover those costs from the Guest in accordance with the Terms of Service. Recoverable costs may include, but are not limited to the ff:

  • Vehicle repairs and replacement parts

  • Roadside assistance (including towing, battery, tyre, locksmith, fuel delivery, and recovery services)

  • Vehicle recovery, towing, storage, and workshop costs

  • Transportation reasonably incurred by the Host

  • Loss of use, where applicable under the Damage & Loss liability policy

  • Other reasonable incident-related expenses resulting from the Guest's liability.

Drive lah will determine liability based on the circumstances of the incident and supporting evidence. Only reasonable and necessary expenses will be recoverable.
