This policy defines the permitted and prohibited uses of vehicles shared through the Drive lah platform. Its purpose is to:
- Ensure the safety of all users
- Protect the condition and value of listed vehicles
- Support compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
All guests are expected to read, understand, and follow these guidelines when using a vehicle booked through Drive lah.
Guests may use your car for:
Personal use such as errands, commuting, or road trips
Business purposes (e.g. attending meetings, transporting personal work items)
All usage must follow Drive lah’s terms of service and local traffic laws.
Host-Defined Rules
As a host, you can set custom rules in your listing — such as:
No pets
No smoking
No driving across the border
Guests must follow these rules during the trip. You can add them under “Car Rules” when creating or editing your listing.
Prohibited Uses
The following activities are strictly not allowed during any Drive lah trip. Violating these rules may result in fines, account suspension, or loss of insurance coverage.
Unsafe or Illegal Use
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Using the vehicle in a crime or illegal activity
Racing, drifting, or reckless driving
Driving without a valid license
Leaving the car unattended while running
Unauthorized Drivers
Letting anyone other than the verified guest drive the vehicle
Using the vehicle without a valid booking or outside of the booking period
Improper Use of Vehicle
Towing or pushing another vehicle
Off-road driving or using on unpaved roads
Overloading passengers or cargo
Using the wrong type of fuel
Modifying or altering the vehicle in any way
Smoking inside the vehicle
Leaving the vehicle with the keys inside
Commercial Use Restrictions
Providing paid ride services (e.g., Grab, Uber, UberX, or DiDi)
Delivering food, groceries, or packages (e.g., Uber Eats or similar services)
Transporting hazardous or illegal materials
Transporting pets without host consent (may result in cleaning fees)
Rental cars provided through programs like Flex+ or long-term rentals are strictly for private use and cannot be used for any commercial activities.
Out-of-Bounds Travel
Driving outside approved areas as defined in the booking or in your listing
Failing to inform Drive lah if your license is expired or suspended
Why These Rules Matter
The restrictions on commercial use are primarily due to insurance and terms of service compliance. Rental cars are insured for private use only, and commercial activities require specific insurance policies, such as those covering Public Hire Vehicles (PHV).
Violating these policies can:
Void the insurance coverage for the trip
Reduce liability coverage to the minimum required by Singapore law
Result in a fine or permanent suspension of both host and guest accounts
