Fuel Policy: Returning the Vehicle with the Same Fuel Level
As a guest, it is required that you return the rental vehicle with the same fuel level as when you received it. This policy ensures that both hosts and guests have a fair experience when it comes to fuel usage.
Fuel Return Requirements
Same Fuel Level: The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel as at the start of the trip.
Fuel Level Documentation: At the start and end of the trip, the guest is required to take and upload photos showing the fuel level of the vehicle. This helps ensure accurate tracking and comparison.
How to Document the Fuel Level
At Pickup: Take a photo of the vehicle’s fuel gauge clearly showing the fuel level.
At Drop-off: Take a photo of the fuel gauge again when returning the vehicle to ensure the levels are comparable.
Upload Photos: Upload both photos to the Drive lah platform under the trip details section.
What Happens if There is a Fuel Discrepancy?
If the fuel level at drop-off is lower than it was at pickup, the guest will be charged for the difference in fuel costs. The charge will be in line with Drive lah's Fuel Policy.
If the fuel level is higher at drop-off than at pickup, no additional charges will apply, but it is recommended to maintain the same level for simplicity.
Two Ways of Estimating the Fuel Gap Claim
1. Agreement Between Guest and Host
Process: If both the guest and the host agree on the fuel gap at checkout, the guest will be charged for the fuel difference based on their agreement.
Fuel Charge: The guest will be charged at a rate of $4.00 per litre for the fuel gap, as agreed between them and the host.
2. Disagreement Between Guest and Host
Process: If the guest and host cannot agree on the fuel gap, Drive lah will assess the fuel discrepancy.
Assessment: Drive lah will evaluate the situation based on available data, such as photos of the fuel level at checkout.
Fuel Charge: The guest will be charged $4.00 per litre for the fuel gap, as determined by Drive lah.
Host Share: The host will receive 80% of the total charge for the fuel gap.
