How do promo payments get reimbursed?
Drive lah occasionally provides guests with promo codes or credits to encourage bookings. As a host, you’ll always receive 100% of your listed rental price, even if a promo is applied. This article explains how promo reimbursements work and when to expect them.
How promo discounts work
Guests may use promo codes or credits to reduce their trip cost.
These discounts apply only to the guest’s payment, not your payout.
Drive lah reimburses the discounted amount to you, so your earnings remain unchanged.
Example
Scenario Amount
Your set trip price: $80
Guest applies promo code: -$20
Guest pays: $60 + trip fee
You receive: $80 (full amount)
When Will I Get Paid?
Promo reimbursements are included in your monthly payout.
NEW update: Monthly payouts starting 1st September
From 1st September 2025, we’re moving to monthly payouts for all hosts. It means you’ll be paid once a month as a host on the 9th business day of each month (This means weekends and public holidays don’t count, as it's business days only)
Why Drive lah switched to monthly payouts?
We understand that weekly payouts had their appeal, but there’s a thoughtful reason behind the move to monthly payments:
One clean payment – No more scattered small deposits
Easy to track – You’ll get a CSV file each month showing all trips and earnings
Globally normal – Our Australia team and other countries already do it
It’s for something BIG – Our new partnership with Grab (yes, that Grab!) needs monthly payouts to work. That means more visibility, more bookings, and more earnings for your listing.
Where to see the promo reimbursement
In your trip earnings breakdown, you’ll see:
The guest discount applied
The total amount Drive lah reimburses
The promo amount may be listed as a separate line item in your payout or combined with your total earnings.
For New Hosts
If you’re new to Drive lah:
We offer a first-trip discount to guests booking your car.
The discount is visible in the price breakdown.
You will still receive the full trip price you set.
Didn’t receive a reimbursement?
If your payout is missing a promo reimbursement and did not reflect on your monthly payout, contact Drive lah Support. We’ll review and resolve it promptly.
