Does Drive lah charge a security deposit for rentals?
No, Drive lah does not charge a security deposit for any trips.
However, in some cases, we place a temporary pre-authorization of $250 on your credit or debit card. This is not a charge—it’s a hold to ensure the payment method is valid and that potential incidentals can be covered if needed.
When is the $250 pre-authorization applied?
We apply a temporary hold only in the following situations:
New guest who has completed fewer than 3 trips on the platform.
Guests who have previously been involved in a dispute or accident on Drive lah.
Once you've completed 3 trips without issues, no pre-authorization will be required for future bookings—unless a dispute occurs.
How long does the hold last?
The pre-authorization is automatically released within 24 hours after your trip ends.
After release, your bank or card provider may take 5–7 business days to remove the hold and make the funds available again.
Note: You will not see a refund or credit; the pending amount will simply disappear from your statement.
